“Lips are among the most sensitive areas of the body. They enable us to speak, breathe, eat, drink, express emotions, kiss, shape facial expressions, and provide protection. They carry a relational, intimate, and existential dimension.” Aa&dP
As part of the project “Terrains d’imaginaires” and in dialogue with the exhibition “Babel” at the CDN, Aalaii & de Perrot present INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. The public is invited to leave an imprint of their lips. Each imprint joins the others. A sky of presences, relations, and narratives takes shape. A work in motion. An airport, instead of being a place of control, borders, and power, becomes a space of landing, encounter, and transformation, where geographical, linguistic, and cultural boundaries dissolve.
In front of this space, a painting by Aalaii & de Perrot: “We had imagined a lip sculpture made of love and friendship, composed of elements created by women in Iran. These elements, blocked under bombardments, led us to descend a layer beneath the skin of the lips, down to the structure of the orbicularis muscle, woven with words in Persian. Their calligraphy vascularises the muscle. The lip speaks. Written by Mansoureh Aalaii, this lyrical text of a daughter to her disappeared father speaks the unspeakable when everything is destroyed: family, country, culture, points of reference. Absence is everywhere. The absence of the sculpture. The absence of skin. The absence of lips reduced to silence. The absence of millions of voices cut off from the world by the thirst for power and the madness of men.” Aa&dP
The work pays tribute to non-violent civic movements. It affirms solidarity as an irreducible force. The right to exist. To express oneself. To breathe. To love. To transform. The lyrical text will soon be available in French and German.

« Les lèvres comptent parmi les zones les plus sensibles du corps. Elles permettent de parler, respirer, manger, boire, exprimer les émotions, embrasser, façonner les mimiques, protéger. Elles portent une dimension à la fois relationnelle, intime et existentielle. » Aa&dP
Dans le cadre du projet « Terrains d’imaginaires » et en écho à l’exposition « Babel » au CDN, Aalaii & de Perrot présentent INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. Le public est invité à déposer l’empreinte de ses lèvres. Chaque empreinte rejoint les autres. Un ciel de présences, de relations et de récits prend forme. Une œuvre en mouvement. Un aéroport, au lieu d’être un lieu de contrôle, de frontière et de pouvoir, devient un espace d’atterrissage, de rencontre et de métamorphose, où les frontières géographiques, linguistiques et culturelles se dissolvent.
En face de cet espace, une peinture d’Aalaii & de Perrot : « Nous avions imaginé une sculpture de lèvre faite d’amour et d’amitié, composée d’éléments réalisés par des femmes en Iran. Ces éléments, bloqués sous les bombardements, nous ont fait descendre une couche sous la peau des lèvres, jusqu’à la structure du muscle orbiculaire, tissée de mots en persan. Leur calligraphie vascularise le muscle. La lèvre parle. Écrit par Mansoureh Aalaii, ce texte lyrique d’une fille à son père disparu dit l’inexprimable quand tout est anéanti : famille, pays, culture, repères. L’absence est partout. Celle de la sculpture. Celle de la peau. Celle des lèvres réduites au silence. Celle de millions de voix coupées du monde par la soif de pouvoir et la folie des hommes. » Aa&dP
L’œuvre rend hommage aux mouvements citoyens non violents. Elle affirme la solidarité comme une force irréductible. Le droit d’exister. De s’exprimer. De respirer. D’aimer. De se transformer. Le texte lyrique sera prochainement disponible en français et en allemand.
