Acqua Fresca
Transversal Territory
2023
Workshop and Exhibition
Academy of Architectre USI & Città di Mendrisio
The evocative theme of water, as a precious resource and essential parameter of future urban development, lies at the heart of the research done in the Transversal Territory laboratory with a group of students from the Academy of Architecture and residents of Mendrisio. On one side the aim is to draw the public's attention to areas of the city that are often overlooked, on the other to implement a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach to the territory.
Acqua Fresca is located between Mendrisio and Salorino, on the boundary between the urban area and nature. This exhibition presents the result of the research in form of several artistic interventions carried out directly on site. Visitors also have the unique opportunity to discover unexpected places of the city that are usually inaccessible to the public such as water sources and their purification areas to drinking water, caves and technical structures that bring water into our homes.
